Caring for Human Hair Extensions
Human hair extensions are made from 100% real human hair and therefore require the same amount of care and attention as your own hair. Here are a few tips to help you care for your human hair extensions:
Wash Your Human Hair Extensions
Like your own hair, human hair extensions require regular (every 3 days, not everyday) washing to keep them looking natural, hydrated and healthy. It is recommended that you use oil free and sulphate free shampoos and conditioners (use a separate shampoo and conditioner, never combined). Contact your hairdresser, extensionist or hair extensions supplier for more information about recommended products. When washing your hair, do not use too much force as this could cause damage to the human hair extensions; instead gently wash your hair by letting your fingers flow through.
Brush Your Human Hair Extensions
Always gently brush your human hair extensions, in one direction, from ends to roots. Special extension brushes can also be purchased to ensure the hair isn’t damaged in any way. Contact your hairdresser, extensionist or hair extensions supplier for more information about suitable brushes. Never brush your human hair extensions while they are soaking wet because wet hair is weak hair and there’s more chance of breakage. If you must brush your human hair extensions while they are wet you should always put a bit of leave-in conditioner in them and use a larger brush. It’s also recommended that you don’t go to bed with wet human hair extensions nor should you aggressively towel dry them, instead just let them dry naturally or gently wrap them up with a soft towel.
